Gary at the Royal Zoological Society

by admin on November 3, 2015

Gary Opit was the first person to present a cryptozoological study to a scientific forum when he exhibited a yowie footprint, a bunyip skull, illustrations & detailed descriptions at the Dangerous Zoology Forum of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales on 2 November 2013 at the Australian Museum, Sydney. Having been a scientific member of the Society for 40 years, my presentation was based on 18 years of reports from listeners to my radio broadcasts. Chairman Patrick Hutching, summing up at the end of the forum, awarded me the ‘Bravest Presentation’ of the Dangerous Zoology Forum, for daring to stand in front of one hundred of Australia’s most respected zoological scientists & bringing to their attention for the first time reports of large mammals unknown to Australian Zoology.
